Missed connections

I write this while sitting on a bed in a hotel outside the Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris. Our plane from NYC took off about 2 and a half hours late, due to runways being shut down because of rain. So we missed our connecting flight from Paris to Rabat. Air France has put us up in a 2 star hotel called Ibis Ville, for the night. Complimentary dinner and breakfast. Tomorrow we shall take the 10:40 AM flight to Rabat.

When we landed in Paris, we went straight to the terminal where we were supposed to take our connecting flight from, knowing that we were about 1.5 hours late. The AirFrance lady told us that the next available flight would be the next morning, and that we would be put up in a nearby hotel for the night. Everyone was given vouchers, and told how to get to the hotel. However, being an Indian citizen, I would require a visa to step out of the airport. A visa that I did not have. So, the Air France people, who are very helpful, did some running around and secured for me a 24 hour transit visa, so I could spend the night at the hotel and return in the morning. It seems to have worked out fine.

We are next to a small, quiet town called Roissy. We took a walk through it in the afternoon. Some of our group headed into Paris: to sight-see and have something to eat.

I should hope to be in Rabat tomorrow.

Au revoir.
